I hosted Thanksgiving at my house for the first time ever yesterday. It went really well, probably because I only had to make the sides (Tonya brought the turkey and her mother in law brought a ham) and I may have had a drink or two while I was preparing said sides. Either way, it was really mellow and fun, the food and company were excellent and I had a lovely time. It was so much like the Thanksgivings I remember growing up.....kids running around outside while the guys supervise, women cooking in the kitchen...lots of talking, laughing, eating and drinking.
Clean up was a bit of a headache and we have no leftovers (even though there was tons of food left) because it sat out, uncovered on the counter for an incredibly long time after our meal and I didn’t think it was a good idea to eat any of it. Apparently JP had only eaten a small starter plate and planned on having more later in the evening but didn’t set a plate of stuff aside so it all got tossed before he had a chance to get seconds and he was quite bummed about that. So Tonya and I discussed making a smaller version of the meal before the guys leave for North Dakota next Saturday.
I didn’t pick up my camera at all but when I plugged my memory card into my computer this morning to get my pictures from earlier in the week, I found these pictures. Someone must have picked up the camera for me! I’m a little bummed that I didn’t get that family picture I was hoping for, but it was nice to see these candid pictures.
Yes, we are watching Monster Trucks. Good ol’ Florida Thanksgiving television.
I have no idea what he is doing.....
The kids were playing with that google turkey thing forever.
Piper had been taking pictures with my old camera, so I plugged that memory card in and found these:
After everyone left, I cleaned up and wrestled the kids into bed. Then took a quick 30 minute nap (totally not on purpose) and then went out to Target for a little Black Friday shopping. We were in line by about 9:30 and I’d say there were maybe 100 people in front of us...not too bad because we weren’t going for the crazy tv deals or anything. Tonya wanted a camera so I tagged along to pick up these awesome remote control monster trucks for JP and Calvin. (JP had been asking for one ever since he saw the ad and since his birthday was yesterday and he never asks for gifts, I had to get one for him. We gave it to him this morning and Calvin is itching to play with it, he’s gonna be so happy on Christmas when he unwraps his!). I also picked up jammies, slippers, a few games, a cool Cars playdoh set, gloves for all three kids and a dvd of Christmas movies (it was only 2 bucks so I figured, why not). I think that just about completes my shopping for the kids too! So happy to be done! I may check out Cyber Monday to see if I can’t find the Leapsters I wanted to get them.....they had them at Toys R Us for half off but I really, really did not want to go there last night.....but other than that, it feels good to be finished.
Hope everyone had a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

I saw the Leapsters on Amazon for $24 - I am sure that was a temporary price, but you might want to keep an eye on Hip2save.com because I am sure they will drop the price again and Collin will post about the *HOT* price - LOL :)
